BISAK is a non-profit making co-educational school of nearly 650 students from some 30 countries around the world. Catering for the needs of boys and girls and young people aged from 3 to 16 years, the school occupies an attractive, purpose-built facility set amidst the trees and security of a large residential complex in Al Khobar, on the eastern seaboard of Saudi Arabia. Established in 1977 by a small group of parents, the school provides a British-style education adapted to the needs of its international clientele. The school is governed by a Board of Governors, which comprises elected parent representatives, community members and a representative of the British Embassy.
BISAK is a member of the Council of International Schools, the British Schools in the Middle East Conference, and is an accredited member of the Saudi Arabian Foreign Schools section of the Ministry of Education. The school is also registered with the UK Department for Education and Skills and the Qualification and Curriculum Authority to help ensure the most up-to-date information on curriculum development and research findings.
School policy dictates small classes of no more than 22 students, a fully qualified teaching staff and a wide range of specialist subject provision. The UK (England) National Curriculum is followed, and provides a broad programme of studies suited to the differing needs of the many international communities involved in our school. BISAK now offers a full programme of GCSEs and will shortly be introducing A levels and is also planning to introduce the IB programme.
