BISAK Upper School Student Council

The Purpose of the Upper School Student Council

The Student Council is a group of elected by the students to support the interests and the welfare of the British International School of Al-Khobar's student body. We raise student issues with the school management; we also oversee the organization of student social events such as student discos. All students may contribute to a Student fund which can be used to enhance social areas and support the various activities.

Annually an Executive Committee is elected to guide Council activities We hold monthly meetings at the start of each month to discuss business and express opinions. One student representative is elected for each tutor group; they attend general meetings to feed back on school matters.

At the first student council meeting of each academic year a Chairperson, Deputy Chair and Secretary are elected to oversee the running of the student council meetings. The secretary is responsible for submitting a summary of the discussionand agreements made at each meeting to the Head / Deputy Head of School who will pass on the issues to the school Principal. Once a term, the Principal will meet with the Chairperson, Deputy Chair and Secretary of the student council.

The school managemennt will help guide the actions of the student council meetings by suggesting the agenda items for discussions.

The student council helps raise funds for charities through events such as "dress as you like day" which has been used to help charities such as the Pishigu fund in Ghana" and "Children of the Forest in Thailand".
