Comments from Parents and Students
Extracts from a letter by Pablo Saldungaray:-
“When I was told that my new work assignment was going to be in Saudi Arabia, one of the first things that came to my mind was my children’s education. Camila was almost 6 years old and Juan Pablo almost 4. Their knowledge of the English language was very limited, just a few words in the case of Camila and almost none for Juan Pablo.
We discussed the options with my wife and we decided to send our children to Bisak. Partly because we had some good references from other colleagues working in the Kingdom, but also because we perceived that special care was taken to integrate children with limited knowledge of the English language to the school.
Camila started EAL (English as Additional Language) class in late September 2008. Her progress was astonishing. Three months later she was able to communicate very well with the rest of her school mates and in January 2009 she joined the regular Year one class. Since then she has continuously improved her speaking, reading and writing skills, to the point that she has started correcting her own parent’s pronunciation!
Juan Pablo has also made incredible progress. At the beginning it must have been frustrating for him not been able to communicate, but he was always happy. In the initial months he was closely tutored with special classes to bring him up to speed with the English language.
Today we can say that we are very satisfied with the school and we appreciate all the time and dedication that the teachers have put in our children. Camila and Juan Pablo have been integrated in the school and learned a new language; they are learning while enjoying the experience and making new friends.”
Extracts from a letter by Koichiro Enomoto:-
Both our children have spent about 8 months in the EAL Class and we could definitely say that EAL is very useful class for the children who are not English as a mother tongue.
Our children’s English level was not sufficient to communicate and they hesitated to contact with other friends when they joined BISAK.
Recently they could communicate to friends in their mainstream class, read an English book, sing an English song and speak fluent English.
EAL lessons will definitely eliminate student’s tension to adapt to mainstream class and helping a lot to catch up with the mainstream progress.
